With the on-going Southwest and Airtran Merger, Southwest has officially brought Akron-Canton Airport ( CAK ) and Dayton International Airport ( DAY ) to the growing route network on Sunday, August 12.
Southwest flights will compliment AirTran in these two Ohio destinations until the two air carriers determine the best time to convert all AirTran flying to Southwest. Mergers aren t always easy, plus industry analysts have commented on the additional ancillary revenue AirTran is able to pull in with checked baggage fees.
