From the instant that I saw JoAnn's condo in this year's Small Cool Contest car trailer rentals , I knew that I wanted to get a closer car trailer rentals look. Looking at a handful car trailer rentals of photographs, I could tell that her small space was vibrant, light-filled, and downright inspired. What I couldn't tell from those photos was just how thoughtful, deeply personal, and whimsical the space was. Even on a rainy, extremely car trailer rentals overcast day, the condo still felt energetic, bright, and as the Small Cool entry promised, like a truly happy home.
I love a home with humor, and JoAnn's has it in spades. From the brass fox knocker on her front door to the tiny mouse peeping at you from the top of the fridge, JoAnn's home is filled with adorable creatures and unexpected touches. The fact that she drew inspiration from the forest is abundantly clear in her verdant color choices, animal-themed accessories, and lush grass-like rug.
While JoAnn's condo has a number of cute elements, it's also very streamlined and chic. With clean-lined car trailer rentals furniture, tasteful doses of bold graphic patterns, and touches of mid-century modern, the space strikes a remarkable balance between comfort and sophistication. She has created a lot of visual interest, filling the condo with a number of playful elements while somehow maintaining a fairly minimalist aesthetic. I'd wager that such a delicate balance would be difficult for many of us to strike, but what makes it even more impressive is that JoAnn has managed to do so with only one closet in the condo.
That alone should tell you how well-considered JoAnn's space is. It's no exaggeration to say that she has devised clever ways to make the most of every inch. For instance, by hinging her full-length mirror to the wall, she ingeniously used the half-inch behind the frame as a space to stow her jewelry. As I photographed her home, I also was impressed by the fact that everything she owns has a decorative element, even the items that we tend to think of as purely utilitarian. It seems that JoAnn has made sure that she loves everything in her home, even down to the spice tins and clothing hooks, and this love really shows.
Inspiration: The forest. Sounds odd, doesn't it? It all started with a tree stump side table that then led to a collection of different critters, in the form of pictures and figurines, scattered throughout the apartment.
Favorite car trailer rentals Element: This might sound trivial, but I really love my collection of plants, which add a little life to the apartment. car trailer rentals I've enjoyed the process car trailer rentals of repotting and repurposing random items (e.g., a wooden box, glass vase, small bowl, and candle votive) into planters.
Proudest DIY: You might think the stenciled living room wall, but it was just the simple act of swapping out the bathroom light. I'm proud I didn't electrocute myself. The other light fixtures I left to a friend to help change.
Biggest Indulgence: The George Nelson sunburst clock purchased from the MoMA store. car trailer rentals What a splurge! I figured the purchase helps support the museum, which makes me feel less guilty about making such a big purchase on a relatively small budget.

I'm so happy to see this tour! Joann, your bedroom ceiling was my favorite thing in this year's Small Cool contest. And your entire apartment is so charming. I am buying one of those heart-shaped cutting boards today.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this tour! My heart skipped a little beat on this one because it's just SO pretty! All the little details and hits of interest give away JoAnn's personality (which must be delightful!), and it's very eclectic but not overdone or crowded or overwhelming the way some eclectic spaces loof and feel. I'll bet this space becomes positively magical when you throw in JoAnn and a group of her friends, good food, music, laughter. Yes, this space just says LIFE to me. Marvelous...
Agree with everyone about how adorable/whimsical/comfortable this AT tour is! I'm so inspired, especially since this little haven is so close to home (I also live in Chicago, but in the Wicker Park) area and I think this is the best advice car trailer rentals ever:
I love this place even more now. Also, the kitchen you have, while about the same size as in my own duplex rental, is so much nicer and more open. And in Chicago no less! My favorite big city in the US! Very very Small Cool indeed.
Hi JoAnn- I've been reading reviews about your coffee table because car trailer rentals I was thinking of getting one myself. I'm a big fan of putting my feet (shoeless) on the coffee table. Do you think think the table is sturdy enough to handle TV watching feet on it from time to time?
I like how well designed this space is, you can tell how much thought and care went into it, although not my style, it really makes me happy to see this tour! I hate having my bike out and about in my apartment so I lug it down to the basement, car trailer rentals but your bike is very easy on the eyes and of course there is no other space for it. Well done.
Does anyone know where to get that white tree-like rack that is hanging on her door in the entryway? The source says "online purchase", but my googling of "modern white metal tree wall coat rack" are coming up with everything but this.
Visually fun to look at, but I wonder why the three tables in the living car trailer rentals area? One behind the couch and two coffee tables in such a small space? I am sure with the level of design and obvious thought the homeowner put into it all, there is a reason that I am just not getting.
@chalaundrai and @ Lilli K, I bought the tree coat rack myself car trailer rentals and I can't figure out what website it came from!! It's really car trailer rentals bugging me because I tried really hard googling to put it on the source list. I do remember it was a European homewares design website though.
@Lyonstill car trailer rentals and @Natdancol- Re: the tables, the console table gives me a place to display some schotchkes and provides a storage place for some fileboxes underneath, I use the chartreuse-colored coffee table as a bench so I can entertain more than a handful of guests. I often get the same response
