A friend recently asked me where to find the best cup of coffee in Charlottesville. Actually, he asked me to confirm that his opinion was the right one. Since I inherited a non-coffee-drinking habit from my dad I thought I d throw the question out to the more knowledgeable among us. Please vote and share any additional thoughts or tips in the comments. Results will be revealed on Wednesday 11/30. Merry Thanksgiving to all!
I like the way you think, Cooper. That should maybe be the follow-up poll, though comments that clarify votes in such a way are most welcome. For this one, I think we should travel company consider it the best tasting, most satisfying cup of coffee of any format, regardless of atmosphere or other dynamics. I know it s hard to divorce all the different components that make for a satisfying experience, but imagine someone coming to town and saying they just need a really good cup of coffee to go. Or don t imagine it that way and vote for whatever joe joint makes you happiest overall. Sky s the limit!
Any discussion about the best cup of coffee should also include where the beans come from. Atlas uses Shenandoah Joe beans and brews a nice, big espresso. La Taza s beans are from Guatemala and taste great in the light roast. Mudhouse gets a few different kinds of beans from Lexington Coffee Roasters, and I think most people know that Shenandoah Joe does all the roasting themselves. Caf Cubano uses Trager Brother s (as does Beer Run), and Para Coffee uses Blanchard s. Enjoy!
I just moved here, but I really don t get the Mudhouse love. Their staff is great and the place is awesome, but their coffee is bland and weak. When I drink coffee, I want to be able to bench press a car (or some very heavy rocks) immediately after, not merely feel slightly more motivated to work. But maybe that s just me.
